people for people reviews and announcements: 1993 - 1996
" What happens if your 3D animation requires an army of extras?
You can duplicate your high-resolution human models several times, but
chances are you will run out of RAM very fast. Even if you don't, the
huge number of polygons will stretch your rendering times into eternity.
But not if you have people for people. "
" This is a very smart idea: a collection of 3D humans with no super-
fluous details, yet carefully modeled. This CD comes with 76 different people
including male and female suitpeople, casualpeople, and students. These models
are fully clothed and correctly proportioned, including people of all colors
and handicapped people on crutches and walkers, and in wheelchairs. Although
they lack details such as facial features, these people look very human. Some
even carry books, briefcases, and backpacks. "
" People for people is an excellent solution for architectural renderings and
walk-throughs, replacing the typical flat (2D) people most animators were forced
to use. Populating a building with these models gives a better idea of proportion
and creates a much warmer atmosphere. These models do not have joints, but you
could animate them with bones if you wanted to provide some action. "
" The CD comes with nice manuals that even include a few tutorials. It also
comes with color cards featuring samples of the models and information such as
polygon count and material colors. "
