people   for   people  :   general info

suitpeople, suitpeople in wheelchairs, studentpeople, casualpeople

remodelling of the people and delivery method in process.

These are the people libraries that still ship on one CD.  There are three versions each on a different CD that differ by Home Program:

Though released in 1998, and in older version file format, the files or models insert, merge, import or place and will render in the latest versions of the Home Programs.   Since p4p are data files, they are similar to your own project files.   You should open in your rendering program's current version, saveas to your HD and backup on a CD.   You will need to fix some materials: (in Viz and Max and AutoCAD 2007 and AccuRender) and check the smoothing.

More specific help using your older p4p in the 2006 and 2007 versions of the Home Programs is or will soon be available under the Home Program pages on this website. New editions in 2006 or 2007 formats will also soon be available.

The info below explains people for people to new users.   Release history below is for returning user orientation.

Simple dignified human models for computer artists.

The human form has always been a universal subject and scalar device for artists and architectural renderers. Architects, engineers, scientists, and multimedia artists use simple yet graceful people for people to add life and scale to their 3D modeled environments for rendering images.

p4p in a scene
A model library - like a box of dolls or toy soldiers.

people for people-one consists of suitpeople, ablesuitpeople, student and casualpeople- about 70 people models in all.   The library people names help describe the subsets and organize them on the CD.

Merge, insert or place the people models into your 3D project files - reposition and group - then render.

They are static mesh figures posed standing, walking and sitting   -   abstract forms, without links or joints, without facial detail, to quietly humanize your 3D space.

professional men and women in business clothes. 8 able suitpeople in wheelchairs or with cane or walker help communicate awareness of accessibility.

25 walking and standing around in shorts, t-shirts, gym shoes, and ponytails to place in resort, university and park settings or to mix in with suitpeople in street scenes. 13 student and casualpeople sit in simple chairs, wherever you want to place them.

A kit of parts.
wireframe in colors

Each person is a single Object, Group, Symbol or Block. You can move each one like a chess piece. But each person is also an assemblage of "selectable sub-parts": elements, sub-objects, or objects, so you can edit or add materials, delete, mix and match people parts for variety.

simple materials of color.

The people materials are simple diffuse colors. Each people version comes with a materials library and assignation system for each respective rendering program. No mapping coordinates pre-assigned, only colors and smoothing assigned by individual people part. In Max and Viz each person has a Multi/Sub-Object material, compact in the Material Editor. You can add your own mapping coordinates and maps or edit the colors for your specific lighting schemes.

versions - for the different home program file formats:

Each CD version is for ONE file format and its group of rendering programs. Each CD comes in one simple manual bound with similar color charts of all the people in one set.

The manual for each is specifically written for that program. The people models are each translated in and for that specific program. Their parts, colors and Objects -the kit of parts - are designed and organized for that specific program, but the models are the same.

There is one CD for just p4p for 3D Studio r4, Max 1 and 2, and VIZ with folders or sub-directories for each: /3DS, /3DSb, /Max1, and /Max2.

The people for people for form*Z also have a separate CD all their own. This is a special collection of p4p Symbol libraries ready to render the very special programs by auto.des.sys: form.Z and RenderZone.

For 3DS4, MAX, or VIZ - the p4p for 3DStudio/Max/Viz CD is blue-purple - it says: .3ds - .max

For form*Z - the p4p for formZ CD is a metallic pea green - it says: .zlb

For AutoCAD and AccuRender the CD is white - it says: .dwg

Currently if you order p4p One for either AutoCAD or the 3D Studio family you will receive both.

people for people release history:

(to help old and existing users identify what they have and have not.)

First, in 1993 through 1995, there was the people for people on diskettes in the square manuals for 3DS Dos and the long skinny wired manuals for AutoCAD r12 and AccuRender1. These are obsolete.

Below is a picture of people for people as it shipped in 1995 through 1997.

picture of old box, manuals and CD

The "white box" contained suitpeople, casualpeople and studentpeople, ready-to-render in 3D Studio and AutoCAD (render view and Accurender) and .DXF files all on one silver CD. This p4p version is now out of print but is not obsolete. If you have this CD perhaps you can still open and import the models into the current versions of your programs. The .dxf are an old Binary .dxf version from 3D Studio Dos. The "white box" version was replaced by newer versions in 1998.

The 1998 versions are still shipping as explained above.
